I had a colleague who is a Republican Say today that I had "good taste" in a candidate for the WH who tries to understand all kinds of issues in the financial and economic markets. He was impressed that JRE got to meet with Angela Merkel too.
Never know..indies could suade towards a John Edwards presidency. I see it.

Edwards is in an interesting position right now. I don't like this Democratic deal to withdraw the timetable and conditions for the Iraq funding. It's going to be interesting to see how Hilary and Barack play it when they have to vote on the thing in the senate.
Obama particularly will have to show that he's a leader by opposing the leadership's move. In the meantime, JRE can just point to the fact that he's repudiated his own vote 4 years ago....

Edwards, along with Feingold, Kerry, and Dodd, are the ones with spine. Obama has his right to see what the bill looks like, but automatically, there should no funding without a timetable, and put the onus on Bush instead. But instead, he continues to try to supply his war chest by holding events that the gate charge is $50 for anyone who attends. That is NOT democracy. That's ego and wanting cash instead of studying the current bills before them.
