Kumbya Doesn't Work in Congress
President Obama learned a lesson. You can have happy hour at the White House, but it doesn't help unemployed people. Look at the vote yesterday in the House on the Stimulus Package.
JRE understood this all too well. The special interests still got to the Congress. You cannot sit at a table with lobbyists or else they will take all of the food.
Taylor Marsh has the important parts the Dems gave up in this bill.

The Republican Party demands strict adherence and blind loyalty. Those hypocrites paint themselves into a corner. Tax cuts throughout the last eight years have not stimulated the economy. In fact, the Bush Administration and the Republicans in Congress ran an economic Ponzi scheme.
Real wages for the vast majority of American have been flat. Our real estate bubble has triggered a worldwide setback.
It will take many years to recover this recession because the fundamentals are much more difficult. Consumers cannot spend us out of this recession--they are too deeply in debt. Housing continues to collapse in a deflationary spiral. Foreigners feel burnt by previous purchases of our smoke-and-mirrors investment products.

President-Elect Barack Obama has chosen, mostly, Wall Street promoters and corporate lawyers to be in his cabinet. He hasn’t included anyone who knows how to interact and relate with everyday American citizens, and then report back to him concerning: (1) what the people need, and (2) whether his administration’s new initiatives are working. During the Great Depression, Eleanor Roosevelt fulfilled this role for President Franklin D. Roosevelt. I nominate Senator John Edwards for this role. John Edwards would be a refreshing change. John Edwards, consistently spoke up for average Americans, i.e. Main Street, not Wall Street. During his “Road to One America Poverty Tour” John Edwards demonstrated that he is uniquely qualified for this role.
The video evidence follows:
He has walked with and comforted people whose homes were being foreclosed:

He has visited workers employed in the new renewal energy economy:

John Edwards is, also, the only candidate for President that actually went down to New Orleans on several occasions and worked along side those striving to try to bring back the areas that remain so devastated from the effects of Hurricane Katrina.

I was upset by Obama's cutting of contraception for poor women just to appease the repugs. He didn't get one thing out of it. Not one vote.
Women work their hearts out for these men and they either drop their pants and become irrelevant or they sacrifice us for their own needs. Why do we continue to believe them?
FYI, I'm not poor nor do I need birth control. Too old. What young women won't fight for, men will give away for their own political needs.
I keep telling the girls I work with that they will be sorry someday when their rights a gone and that they are also giving away their daughters and future daughters rights.
This is off the subject, but why do these repugs all look like snake oil salesmen?
