Thank You, KO
I missed Keith Olbermann's show last night, but apparently his "special comment" resonated with many bloggers.
Here's the link from YT:

He spoke for many of us and reminded me of what JRE and/or EE said on the campaign trail about the special interests. You cannot bring them to a table without them stealing all of the food.

Thanks for sharing the video. A public option is absolutely critical for actual health care form to be achieved. If the reform effort isn't a true overhaul, it will not be successful for individuals or the administration.
Too many "deals" are being cut and will take the teeth out of the reform. For example, reports indicate there may be agreements with big Pharma that Medicare won't negotiate for lower prices. The administration cannot give up the leverage they have and expect Pharma to voluntarily walk away from the table without eating everything in sight first.
President Obama can take a stand and demand action or allow the Democrats to shoot themselves, and the public, in the foot. (Why are Democrats so good at self-destructing instead of working together?) Only time will tell if we have real change or more of the same.

It's simple to me. I do think government actually can deliver a lot of services very well. We don't, for instance, hire mercenary armies as a default option (well except for Blackwater).
I'm finding that the post office competes very well with FedEX and UPS...
Someone needs to speak the truth on this and say that government or the many governments that do actually deliver pretty well when it comes to health care. The VA has been a suprisingly efficient government based health system.
