Interview of Elizabeth Edwards on Charlie Rose

Sorry, I missed this one.

The View will interview EE tomorrow. Unfortunately, I'm concerned they will be like Oprah, too interested in the affair, rather than Elizabeth's gifts that she's brought to the table in her book. But surely, they could be no worse than Oprah.

  • I watched the View this morning and I was disappointed with all the questions asked of Elizabeth related to the affair and the little girl. Towards the end of the short interview with Elizabeth, did Barbara Walters insinuate that there is more to come out on the affair? Did anyone else hear this comment? I hope Ms Walters isn't planning to interview Rielle Hunter in the future?

  • The interviewer definitely sets the tone of the interview and if it is tabloidish or thoughtful. What amazes me are the things the interviewers don't follow up on . . . probably because the interviewers don't listen to the answers.

In the Charlie Rose interview, Elizabeth mentioned that if you pinned John down on the timing, he probably could be the father. Rose never said a word about it.

On The View Elizabeth answered a question about her children and any relationship with the baby if John's paternity is established saying the conversation with her children would depend upon the arrangements. Not one of the women asked if that meant John would want some form of custody. Hunter could establish paternity only to have her daughter spend half her time with Elizabeth!

  • I'm surprised by the questions that aren't being asked, especially about who paid what to Hunter. Recently there was a picture of Hunter in New Jersey driving into a BMW SUV with North Carolina plates. It looks like she is still receiving financial support.

Now the tabloid says Hunter is going to do an interview with Barbara Walters. I don't see how that helps her because she's going to have to answer some questions that can only make her look bad. The interview should end the gravy train, too.

The tabloid is also claiming Hunter is going to demand $10 million from Edwards for her daughter. She obviously doesn't understand how child support works. (Walters needs to ask her about how much of a gold digger she is!) It would serve her right to lose sole custody and then she gets even less money too.

I do feel bad for Elizabeth Edwards because the wounds can only be reopened. The saddest part is if her husband still hasn't been honest with her. She deserves to know everything and to have her husband remove Hunter from their lives. Maybe Hunter's moves will finally do that once and for all.

  • Anonymous, I've read the NE newsstand issue about RH going after 10 million. The article states RH wants child support, college fund and 25% inheritance from the Edwards wealth for Frances. According to the "source", RH wants Frances to have a relationship with her father John and half siblings - Jack, Emma Claire & Cate. According to the "source" Elizabeth is the one not accepting Frances as the half sibling to her children. Actually, RH should settle the paternity issue but not go on TV with Walters. RH needs to suck up her ego and let this "affair" die.

  • Child support? Absolutely, until the child reaches a specified age - 18 or 21. College fund? Would be a part of a child support order. 25% inheritance? No court can force someone to leave any amount to anyone. This scenario is addressing when John Edwards is deceased. He could leave all his assets to one child and nothing to any other children. The only requirement for estates is in some states where a spouse cannot be disinherited without consent but there is no such rule for children.

As far as the other claim, I really don't see Hunter willingly packing off her daughter to spend half her time with the woman who called her a "sad groupie" with a "pathetic" life.
