Bill O"Reilly's Lump of Coal

WASHINGTON -- What's missing from the White House Christmas card? Christmas.

This month, as in every December since he took office, President Bush sent out cards with a generic end-of-the-year message, wishing 1.4 million of his close friends and supporters a happy "holiday season."Many people are thrilled to get a White House Christmas card, no matter what the greeting. But some conservative Christians are reacting as if Bush stuck coal in their stockings.
[snip ]

One of the generals on the pro-Christmas side is Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association in Tupelo, Miss. "Sometimes it's hard to tell whether this is sinister--it's the purging of Christ from Christmas--or whether it's just political correctness run amok," he said. "I think in the case of the White House, it's just political correctness."

Wildmon does not give retailers the same benefit of the doubt. This year, he has called for a consumer boycott of Target stores because the chain issued a holiday advertising circular that did not mention Christmas."It bothers me that the White House card leaves off any reference to Jesus, while we've got Ramadan celebrations in the White House," Wildmon said.

Poor Poor Pitful Bill. St Nicholas (who comes on Dec 5th in Holland) left coal in his shoes instead of candy or a cookie. Bill has accused Jon Stewart of being against Christmas, in some respects.

Hasn't BOR realized that W is not St. Nicholas or saint anything except St. Disingenuous.

Even to his own Christian base?

You better watch out..you better not cry, better not I'm telling you why...the real Santa Claus is coming to your town..even if it's one toy or a coat in someone's stocking. Most people don't care if a gift is from a "Happy Holidays" store or one that actually has a banner or says to customers "Merry Christmas." W and Pickles decided that too. Stuff that in your stocking, BOR.

So Who are Our Patriots

Someone on OAC posted the following of who served our country in the uniform:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I cannot speak to the accuracy of that list, but it looks pretty close. Rethugs think they "own" the freedom parts of "freedom isn't free". Hello...I also don't see rich young Elephants signing up for the experience. They claim they claim they can serve their country other ways. If Dems's sons and daughters proclaimed that so openly, they would be considered "cut and run cowards."

In Memory of Iddybud's Mom

Iddybud's mother passed away this afternoon. From her e-mail, it sounds like she went peacefully into the universe.

It's tough to be mid-aged in this respect: we start losing more loved ones. My husband's first wife would have been 51 today, but she succumbed to cancer more than 8 years ago.

I wish Iddybud well as she and her family work through this difficult time. Anonymoses posted a really nice poem for Jude in her time of need.

Couldn't Resist

Less than 3 years away! One JRE supporter says she's already starting to save money for the Bloggers Ball 2009--if JRE is elected president.

Wishful thinking...for the holidays.

Happy Holidays

I think I've seen my mother kiss this man once or twice over the years...
