Gettin' Older

One of the best guitarists around, Jimmy Page of Led Zepplin, is 65 today. Hard to fathom. Does that mean he can retire?

Makes me feel uh-old.

Happy birthday, Jimmy. I would post a video but your record company forced Youbube to take them down. BW readers, I suggest going to Blip.fm and type in your favorite Zep tune to listen to Jimmy and the guys.

Join Me at Blip.fm

BW readers--One of my fellow bloggers, Iddybud, invited me to explore blip.fm and become a DJ. It's the 2009 version of Napster except one doesn't download the songs on your hardrive, you are still storing them on a server. You can develop your own playlist. You can also just listen to certain DJ's, but also listen to the music as it appears on the screen when your song is finished playing. Often someone will hear it and if they like it, they will give you a "Prop."

I've been creating some shows for the different days or evenings. Depends on what strikes my fancy. Tonight it is "Space Thursday" whereby I am playing Space related tunes, such as "2000 Light Years Away from Home" by the Rolling Stones and "Space Oddity" by David Bowie.

You can find my tunes at http://blip.fm/bennae; also on the Side Bar on the right, you might be able to see a window of some my blips.

Come blip with me!

Will Obama Listen to Benny and Steve Clemons?

Gov Bill Richardson has withdrawn his name as nominee for the Commerce Secretary post. That's fine, he probably did the right thing in order to save Obama a little embarrassment ahead.

So who should Obama pick instead?

Steve Clemons (of the Washington Note) and I agree on a choice: Leo Hindery, Jr. He was John Edwards senior economic advisor on his campaign, and has been CEO of several businesses, and yet feels strongly about good corporate citizenship. Trade is part of the Commerce Department, and if Obama says he will redo some of the Trade agreements, then Hindery is a good pick to work with Secretary Solis (if confirmed) of the Labor Department.

Maybe Obama should read It Takes A CEO by Hindery and this article Hindery penned 18 months ago @ the Politico.
