Aloha!

Greetings BW readers--I'm on the island of Kauai. The weather has been splendid. This is a pic from a beach near Kaapa around 4:30 Aloha time. It's very obvious that a midwesterner is posing since the natives are accustomed to being photographed and are tanned.

Still Get Star Struck

Through campaigning for JRE, one meets entertainers and politicians. Politicians I don't get star struck with anymore. Most of them came from educated backgrounds like myself and while they live well, I don't get too tongue tied around them, especially if it is an event to ask questions.

Yesterday, Mr. Benny and I were on our way to Kauai, and had to change planes in LAX. We had lunch (albeit not a very good one), then we were strolling down the terminal. It was a short walk.

And that's when I saw him. David Cook, our 2008 American Idol.

I spotted DC, his girlfriend, and either a band member (or a handler) walking down the terminal. He was wearing new sunspecs, had a backpack on, and wore his usual leather wrist band and his signature boots (the crocodile looking ones--man he has bigger feet than I noticed when he was at the AI Tour concert this summer) along with jeans. What gave him away was his beard and how he touched it as he was walking and moving his specs up on his head. However, he was in a hurry, and it appeared that his girlfriend left something on the plane as they raced back to find something, only to walk out hurriedly and going back to the transportation area. I couldn't get my camera out fast enough, but perhaps it's just as well that I didn't in not looking like someone from the OMG site.He looked good otherwise! My spouse didn't recognize him at first but when I pointed out his different features, especially the boots...

So, I was 2 ft or less away from our American Idol. If he had been more leisurely, I probably would have asked him for an autograph and to wish him happy birthday.
