RIP, Socks, the Former First Cat

According to CNN, Socks, the Clinton's First Feline, was put down this morning after a bout with cancer at Three Notch Veterinary Clinic in Hollywood, Maryland.

Socks was adopted by Chelsea Clinton when her father was governor of Arkansas.

A stray, Socks was adopted by Chelsea Clinton when her father was governor of Arkansas. He was brought to the White House, but often spent time in the basement, and when the Clintons moved to Westchester County, he lived with Bettie Currie, the 42nd POTUS' secretary, as Bill Clinton was allergic to cats.

I know my Elmora thought highly of Socks, especially as it was designated as the First Cat. Elmora looks a lot like Socks.

I guess the Clintons weren't present when Socks went to Rainbow Bridge, but sounds like the Vets did an able job in doing what they could to make Socks comfortable in the twilight of his years.

Bill Clinton Campaigns for Hill in the Hub

OK, now I am somewhat impressed with Clinton's campaign.

(photo credit: Jim Watkins, the AJ)

Our 42nd President went to Lubbock, my hometown, and spoke at Lubbock High School. According to one report, Clinton wanted to see the HS of Buddy Holly.

Well, back in yesteryear when Bill was working on becoming governor of Arkansas, I did my student teaching at Lubbock High School and taught American history to juniors. Can't say the experience was all that great, but at least I did it.

Bill went to Amarillo too.

Yesterday was my momma's birthday. She would have appreciated meeting Bill Clinton, but she feels kind of crummy these days.

This proves that Hillary is about cattle and not just the hat. "That will be the day" would fit Obama if he were to venture into Bush's backyard.

Mrs. Benny Endorses Hillary Clinton for President

My momma, Mrs. Benny, announced that she endorsed Hillary Clinton for president since Edwards is not running any more. Since I don't have a dog in the fight anymore, I support my mother in whomever she chooses.

To help facilitate getting my mother to vote and since she's unable to get out on Election Day in Texas, which is March 4th, I found a wonderful site that allows one to fill out a name, address, and city. The state of Texas, it seems, understands the needs of rural and older voters. She will receive a ballot, check it off, and mail it back in. Great service.

Mrs. Clinton, congratulations in earning my momma's vote. Oh, and Mr. President, as in Bill Clinton, Mrs. Benny still thinks you're a great guy and very handsome.

Oh, in case BW readers are wondering. No I am not voting for Mrs. Clinton or for Mr. Obama either this year. I already voted for my candidate, John R. Edwards.
